Enterprise 2.0: The Next Narrative

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Enterprise 2.0 was launched in the spring of 2006 as a result of Andrew McAfee’s case study interviews in 2005 on Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DrKW), an investment bank in London.  The story unfolded after he and his team studied the work of J.P. Rangaswami, who was then Global CIO of the bank.  It’s sometimes surprising to me when I realize how much has changed since those early days.

SAP and The 2.0 Adoption Council

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

As part of my role helping evangelize the use of social media within SAP , I am a proud member of the 2.0 Adoption Council, a group devoted to creating and sharing best practices in Enterprise 2.0 adoption (see the “Web 2.0 in SAP” section of this site for more information about internal Web 2.0 deployments at SAP).

As explained on the council website at www.20adoptioncouncil.com, the council members are:

‘…a collection of managers in large enterprises that are charting the course for 2.0 adoption.  Although we may use different platforms and tools, we all share a common enthusiasm for bringing a new way of working to our representative companies.  We call ourselves “internal evangelists” and some say we have one of the most difficult, yet exciting jobs in the global marketplace.’

Un nuovo anno di Enterprise 2.0

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Framework for 2.0 Adoption in the Enterprise.

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

The  2.0 Adoption Council has published a  research report that I wrote for them and I want you to purchase a copy of it.

If you go now and get the report, then you don’t have to read the rest of this post, because you will already understand it.  If you are still here, let me share why it is important for you to have this report.

report coverWe understand that the underlying goals of Enterprise 2.0 is to improve the workplace.  And we find that the “2.0″ world offers inspiration, technologies, and insight into how to create this improvement.  We see that Enterprise 2.0 is increasingly relevant to many companies in many industries, in many parts of the world.  It’s not a passing fad.  There’s enough solid evidence  (quantitative investment data and qualitative success stories) collected over the past few years that points to Enterprise 2.0 as a growing marketplace and mainstream business activity.  And yet, we still have much to learn to continue to fuel this marketplace, and many barriers to deal with along the way.

Enterprise 2.0: The 2009 year in review

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

It’s that time of year again, when we look back at the year that was while making next year’s technology and business predictions. 2009 was an exciting year across the board for all things Web 2.0 in the enterprise and related topics. I often find that it’s when we take time to look back at the big picture that we get the best sense for what’s actually happening in the marketplace today.

So I’ll be examining at Enterprise 2.0, cloud computing, and next-generation SOA in this vein over the next couple of weeks, with the year-in-reviews first and then predictions, so please stay tuned.
